Christmas is in the air. Are your Christmas ornaments, trees, beautiful lights, and other decorations in full swing?
Interior Remodel Specialists knows there is a lot of preparation that goes into the holidays. With so much invested into decor, travel, family visits and meals, safety is important during the holidays. Take note of these simple home safety tips for a safe and joyful season.
Check the certification mark of your new set of light strings. There should be a certification mark of an accredited certifying organization on it that lets you know the item is safe and has met performance standards.
Check your electrical connections and wiring setups to prevent accidents. Before putting up the lights, inspect the string for frayed cords, loose connections, and cracked light stems. Don’t forget to unplug lights before you replace any bulbs. Make sure the wattage and voltage match, too, when replacing bulbs. Don’t hesitate to throw away damaged lights altogether.
Avoid daisy-chaining extension cords and surge protectors. Chaining multiple outlets together can overload a power outlet or breaker.
Turn off the holiday lights when leaving home or going to sleep. If you are leaving your house or going to bed, turn off your lights. It will save you electricity and is safer than leaving lights unattended. Unattended lights can create a safety hazard, especially when wrapped around real trees. As real trees die over the days and weeks their needles become brittle and create a fire hazard.
Interior Remodel Specialists wants to wish you a Merry Christmas. We want to thank you for your continued bathroom and kitchen remodeling business. We hope that you have a safe and happy holiday and have many more blessings to come.
