It doesn’t matter if you are a homemaker or in the workforce; Labor Day is a long weekend for you to enjoy. It’s time to take a break and do things you love, go on a vacation, spend quality time with family and friends – the list goes on. Or, for some people, the long weekend can also be a time to spend fixing up your home. It gives you the extra time needed to repair broken things at home and to do minor upgrades.
Do you wonder where to start? Interior Remodel Specialists wants to help you. Here are some easy tips for common home improvement repairs.
Is your wallpaper peeling off? Smear some wallpaper paste onto the paper using a knife, rub the paper against the portion where the wallpaper is peeling off. Press the wallpaper against the wall and with a clean cloth, you can smooth away the bubbles.
Turn off the light and let it cool down. Take a damp cloth and clean the fixture and then if needed, dry the fixture off with a dry cloth.
Do you have problems with tangled cords? Make sure they are neatly coiled and stored in a large storage container. Consider an extension cord reel for easy organization.
Does your bathtub have stains? Combine equal parts of baking soda and cream of tartar with lemon juice to make a paste. Rub the mixture on the stain using a soft, clean cloth or your finger. Leave the paste for 30 minutes and rinse well with water.
Do your sliding glass doors or windows get stuck? Spray some silicone lubricant on the hinges and they can now slide smoothly.
Does your door squeak whether you shut it fast or slow? A little spritz of WD-40 on the hinges will silence it right up.
